District Leadership Update and Interim Superintendent Appointment

Posted Date: 02/12/26 (04:42 PM)

Bridgehampton Families,

The Board of Education wishes to share an important update regarding the leadership of our District. The Board and Dr. Mary Kelly have mutually agreed to establish an early retirement date, reflecting our shared commitment to ensuring a smooth and orderly transition for the school community. We are grateful for Dr. Kelly’s years of dedicated service, her steady leadership, and the many accomplishments achieved during her tenure. We value the professionalism she has shown during this process and her commitment to supporting a stable transition.

To maintain stability and continuity, the Board of Education and Dr. Kelly have come to an agreement that her new retirement date shall be February 16, 2026.  The Board has also appointed Dr. Brigid Collins to serve as Interim Superintendent, who will guide the District while we conduct a comprehensive search for our next Superintendent of Schools. This interim leadership will allow the District to continue its important work without interruption and ensure that the search process is thoughtful, inclusive, and aligned with the long‑term needs of our students, staff, and community.  Dr. Collins previously spent 16 years as an administrator at the Montauk School District before serving as the Superintendent of Schools of the Andes Central School District in Upstate New York.

We thank Dr. Kelly once again for her significant contributions and wish her the very best in her retirement. The Board remains committed to a transparent and collaborative transition process and will keep the community informed as we move forward with our search for a permanent Superintendent of Schools.
