2026 World Language Honor Society Ceremony

Bridgehampton School proudly celebrated its world language students during the third annual World Language Honor Society induction ceremony, recognizing students for their academic achievement, leadership and dedication to language studies and cultural understanding.
Students selected for the World Language Honor Society must maintain a 90% or above average in French or Spanish for the past three years, as well as an 85% or above average for the current school year with no failures in any subject. Inductees must also demonstrate outstanding character, service and commitment that distinguish them among their peers.
WLHS President Sasha Gomberg along with Vice Presidents Deyver Cabanas Salas and Luis Penafiel welcomed students, faculty and families to the celebration, thanking members for their passion and leadership.
Interim Superintendent Brigid Collins spoke about the importance of language learning as a pathway to wisdom and connection, sharing the quote, “The knowledge of other languages is a doorway to wisdom.” She encouraged students to continue building bridges between people, ideas and cultures through courage, discipline and curiosity, reminding inductees that their futures are filled with possibilities.
As part of the ceremony, students recited the oath in French, English and Spanish before being recognized at the Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 distinctions.
Congratulations to this year’s inductees on this outstanding achievement!
