Last week the Bridgehampton School’s Parent Teacher Organization brought together communities and culture for a fantastic multicultural potluck dinner. With a selection of delicious dishes from Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines and the United States, everyone was able to sample foods from outside of their heritage.
Approximately 100 people attended the event, where there was an incredible array of entertainment – Bridgehampton School’s own marimba band performed, Mr. Shane Weeks from the Shinnecock Nation did an interactive presentation on Shinnecock history, the Mexican dance group Xochipilli performed two traditional Mexican dances, and a double-dutch champion team, The Bellport Jumpers, did an amazing demonstration.
Thanks to the dedicated group of student volunteers who did an excellent job hosting and decorating, we all came together to celebrate the array of cultures among us in the Bridgehampton community.
