The Neo Political Cowgirls paid a visit to Bridgehampton middle and high schoolers this week with their Shakespeare smorgasbord—a playful, student-focused collection of speeches from a selection of William Shakespeare’s plays.

The group explored Shakespeare's diverse styles of comedy, tragedy, and history, highlighting how emotion, storytelling, and language resonate with the world today.
Our students engaged had the opportunity to engage in interactive conversations surrounding six of Shakespeare’s plays: Romeo and Juliet (Juliet’s Gallop Apace Monologue), Hamlet (The Gravediggers Scene), Macbeth (Lady Macbeth’s Ravens Monologue), Henry VI (Queen Margaret’s Battlefield Monologue with York), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania’s “Climate Change” Monologue), and The Taming of the Shrew (Katherina’s Final Admonishment Speech). With each excerpt introducing our students to  the characters, plot lines, and motivations, they were able to investigate the pieces in detail to listen for words, emotions, and meanings to help draw connections to our contemporary world.
