Sixth grade students at Bridgehampton School took part in an innovative, distance learning program that simulated real-life situations to enhance science, math and technology skills.

Bridgehampton linked with Wheeling Jesuit University’s Center for Educational Technologies (CET) in Wheeling, West Virginia, to participate in e-Mission: Operation Montserrat.

The CET program is an innovative, hands-on learning experience that enhances classroom exercises to foster interest in math, science and technology in middle and high school classrooms.

Our students became members of the volcano, hurricane, evacuation or communication team during the two-hour, electronic mission. Operation Montserrat engages each participant to work as a scientist to solve problems in real-life situations. The mission challenges participants to apply their mathematics and science knowledge to a real-life event.
