Students in Kindergarten Cohort 2 have been enjoying a read-aloud unit titled Celebrating Our Differences! Students identified the characters in each story as well as the secret message that the author was trying to teach their readers. After reading “It’s Okay to Be Different,” students made unique paper plate faces. They also created a mixed-media scene from the story Big Al, depicting the main character and his fish friends from the story. The students are becoming experts at finding the hidden message within stories!
