Reading, thinking and learning are all part of elementary literacy. Students are learning to use comprehension strategies to read and learn as they encounter information and ideas in texts. Kindergarten students recently had a visit from Super Reader Man who left them capes to practice their reading powers. The fictional character from the Teacher’s College Super Readers writing unit visits the classrooms when students are not there and leaves notes and objects to help them activate their reading powers. They were excited to learn they all had pointer power, in which they simply point to the words they are learning to read.
