The sixth grade class embarked on a field trip to the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Nassau County this week. The trip explored material the students have learned over the course of the year, from force and motion, Newton’s laws, and even global warming and pollution. At the museum they watched a documentary in the full-dome planetarium about oceans, got a guided tour of the museum and had a scavenger hunt after lunch.

Our 12th grade students celebrated Fitzgerald’s famous novel “The Great Gatsby” by throwing a Gatsby-themed party in Ms. Carmen’s English class. Our students created games that showcased their knowledge of the book and decorated the classroom using major themes and ideas from the novel in a spirited, 1920s Gold Coast fashion.

Recycling and Upcycling! thumbnail258289

The Bridgehampton School’s Environmental Club stopped into the elementary school’s student of the month assembly to explain to the students the virtues of upcycling. Club members asked students questions like “What is recycling?” to which a third grader replied, “Cleaning up trash on the beach!” Another student suggested, “When you take care of the Earth.”
Out by the greenhouse, the Environmental Club students brought bags of water bottles and presented the students with a project, creating upcycled fishes using the water bottles and filling them with colored tissue paper.
